Bio-diesel made from food in oil-rich UAEClose
The Middle East is a region where automobile is king and fuel is low-cost, frequently leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly methods of walking around.
But this year, as demonstrations across the Middle East have actually pushed up the rate of oil, the concern of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.
In an area that has among the highest carbon footprints in the world, one organization is making the most of the growing pressure to find options to oil. It's established the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving successful too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
